India’s Karpe Diem adopts Moh Maya alias for new EP on Human By Default.

Having dropped material on the likes of Frequenza and Dance Lab Records under his techno moniker Karpe Diem, the India-born, San Francisco-based talent Vig Shetty now dons his Moh Maya alias and comes out of the traps with a more organic and melodic house-driven sound, landing first on Bedouin’s Human By Default.

“Moh Maya, which in Hinduism means - it’s all an illusion - is an alter ego, which was born out of my spiritual journey post-pandemic in 2022. By incorporating a more eclectic sound design including groovy basslines and driving melodies - I aim to continue to release music that truly resonates with parts of the cultures across the world with a message to celebrate life, music and love” - Moh Maya.

The title track ‘Alchemist’ is ever-evolving world music with a dancefloor twist where live percussive elements and rolling basslines meet an enchanting, drawn-out sufi vocal. ‘El Gallo Dos’ is just as distinctive, as loopy grooves are nestled amongst hypnotic vocal calls and melancholic guitar sections.
